Diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Lebanon was established in 1990. Sri Lanka's first Ambassador to Lebanon was appointed in 1997 and opened a Sri Lankan Mission in Beirut in 1998.
Before the opening of the Sri Lanka Mission in Beirut the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia and Egypt had been accredited to Lebanon.
Lebanon maintains concurrent accreditation from New Delhi.
